His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.
Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
