Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
